A contract has been signed between the General Authority of Ports ("Mawani") and the Saudi Global Ports Company ("SGP") to establish an integrated logistics zone at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.

Investment in this zone reaches one billion riyals (approximately USD 266.6 million), covering an area of more than one million square meters.

The purpose of this contract is to strengthen the logistics sector in Saudi Arabia and develop the services provided, in addition to increasing handling volumes, creating jobs in the logistics services sector, and supporting the Saudi economy. The Saudi Minister of Transport Saleh Al-Jasser noted that this contract is part of the private sector strategy to build high-performance logistics zones and improve logistics infrastructure in the Kingdom.

The new logistics zone is planned to provide integrated services including warehouses, storage yards, and handling of dry and refrigerated cargo, in addition to a re-export area and operations for sorting, regional distribution, and value-added services.

The President of the General Authority of Ports, Omar Hariri, emphasized that this logistics zone strengthens the Kingdom's position in the global logistics services sector and contributes to improving the Kingdom's ranking on the Logistics Performance Index.

It is worth noting that "Mawani" has succeeded in attracting domestic and international investments to establish 11 logistics zones across various Saudi ports, contributing to providing thousands of job opportunities and boosting economic growth and the logistics services industry in the Kingdom.
