The General Authority of Ports, known as "Mawani," announced the launch of a new shipping service called "INDIA EAST MED," connecting King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with 13 regional and international ports in East Africa and Eastern Europe. The service is operated by the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and aims to boost trade movement between Saudi ports and global ports.

This step is part of Mawani's strategy to strengthen Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub and a connecting point between three continents. The new service contributes to enhancing supply chain movement and achieving the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, while also seeking to improve the Kingdom's ranking on the UNCTAD Liner Shipping Connectivity Index.

The service is distinguished by its capacity to handle 13,000 containers weekly, providing connectivity between King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and a diverse range of ports, including Nhava Sheva, Mundra, and Hazira in India, Djibouti, Iskenderun, Mersin, Aliaga, Derince, and Tekirdag in Turkey, Gioia Tauro in Italy, Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, and Sohar in Oman.

This new service represents a qualitative leap in the maritime transport and logistics industry, strengthening the position of King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and increasing its competitive opportunities. It also reflects the confidence of global companies and shipping agents in the ability of Saudi ports to provide integrated services according to the highest international standards, and their capacity to handle a continuous increase in shipment volumes.
